Fishing DolgellauIf youre looking for a fishing holiday in the Dolgellau area of southern Snowdonia, you will be spoilt for choice. The Dolgellau Angling Association offers 13 miles of prime sea trout and salmon pools on River Mawddach and River Wnion, together with a well stocked brown and rainbow trout lake called Llyn Cynwch. The National Trusts Cregennan Lakes can also be found on the slopes of Cader Idris with wild brown trout, blue & rainbow trout.

Dolgellau Angling Associations fishing permits range from 12 (day) to 50 (full week) and are available from the following outlets in Dolgellau:

Fishing seasons are as follows:

Llyn Cynwch: opens 1st March - closes 31st October.

Mawddach and Wnion Rivers: mid March - mid October (please check details).

Cregennan Lakes are owned by the National Trust, and are situated on the northern slopes of Cader ldris, some 800 ft. above sea level, overlooking the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, with car park and toilets, just 5 miles from Dolgellau.

Ideal for families and / or experienced anglers. Under 14's can fish for as little as 3 and adults from 6 (half day) and 12 (full day). Fishing is permitted between 8.00 am and 1 hour after dusk.

There are two natural lakes at Cregnnan. The first is a large, 27 acre lake with a beautiful small island. Wild brown trout only fly, spin or worm.

The second is a smaller, 13 acre lake, regularly stocked with blue & rainbow trout, plus a good head of wild brownies. Fly only.

Take the Cader Idris mountain road out of Dolgellau for 5 miles and you will get to Cregnnan Lakes, near Arthog. For further information contact (01341) 250468 / 426 or 07854 139766.
