Walking in Trefriw - 2 lakes and Fairy Falls

Fairy FallsThis 5 mile circular walk starts from Trefriw and takes you to Geirionydd and Crafnant Lakes, past Fairy Falls. The route requires moderate ability and can be completed in approximately 3 hours.

From the car park in the centre of Trefriw village, cross the main road in front of the Woollen Mill and turn right. Walk to the end of a row of shops and turn left opposite the Fairy Falls Hotel, then walk up the hill. Turn left after a few yards onto the waymarked Trail 4 - this will take you to Fairy Falls.

The twin lakes of Llyn Geirionydd and Llyn Crafnant can be easily accessed from the bridge above the Fairy Falls. The trail takes you through woodlands with fine views of the beautiful Crafnant valley before arriving at the northern end of Llyn Geirionydd and circling around to Llyn Crafnant. Once at Llyn Crafnant you can follow Forest Enterprise trails around the lake. To return to Trefriw, descend along the road for a short distance before re-tracing your steps back to the village.

*It is also possible to branch off this route to visit a 6th century church at Llanrhychwyn (waymarked Trail 8). This route branches off as it climbs towards Llyn Geirionydd and after arriving at the church you can descend through woodland back to Trefriw village.
