Walking in Trefriw - Snowdonia Walk

Lake Betws y CoedSnowdonia Leisure Walk from Trefriw is a 5.5 mile route (3 hours) to Llyn Cowlyd. This trail forms part of the Snowdonia National Park Leisure Walks Network and provides a link to walks in and around Capel Curig.

Start your walk on the road to Llyn Cowlyd just above Trefriw village centre. This moderate / strenuous route takes you into the forest just above the village and provides some fine views of the Conwy and Crafnant valleys and the peak of Moel Siabod beyond.

The trail continues to Llyn Cowlyd and then along the reservoir to its head. The Trefriw Trail ends here and you can re-trace your steps. Alternatively, you can join trails in and around Capel Curig to extend the route to a 9 mile walk (4 hours). Another option to do a 15 mile circular route (8 hours) via Llyn Cowlyd, Capel Curig and Llyn Crafnant.
