Walking the Precipice Walk, Dolgellau
The Precipice Walk is one of the famous attractions of Dolgellau, North Wales. Enjoy fanastic views of the Mawddach Estuary and the principal mountain ranges of Snowdonia; Snowdon and Moelwyn are to the north, to the west is the Rhinog and immediately south is the long scarp of Cader Idris, while to the east is Aran and Arennig.
Precipice Walk is a 3 mile route passing through an interesting variety of habitats which include deciduous woodland, a conifer plantation, meadows, lakeside and sheep-walk. It’s a fairly level walk and suitable for all the family.
The starting point is the National Park car park at Saith Groesffordd, 2 miles from Dolgellau. Take the Bala road out of Dolgellau and after a few hundred metres fork left onto the minor road for Llanfachreth. Follow the road for about two miles until arriving at a car park on the left at Saith Groesffordd. From the car park, follow the signs to Precipice Walk and enjoy the magnificent views!
