Hell’s Mouth Surf School – Year of Adventure #FindYourEpic

We are over halfway through the Year Of Adventure, and with the most popular weekend of the summer on the horizon we thought we would surprise you with a brand new #FindYourEpic episode. This time it was Ffion our Customer Service and Marketing Officer who headed out to Abersoch on the Llyn Peninsula and joined the Hell’s Mouth Surf School.

Wales has various great locations when it comes to surfing with Hell’s Mouth being one of the most popular spots. This time we thought that we would try out what North Wales had to offer…

Ffion started off by hiring her wetsuit from the West Coast Surf shop who runs the surf school and is situated in Abersoch itself. She was provided with her foam ‘Swell’ surfboard before heading down to the beach. Take a look how Ffion got on…

If you heading that way this weekend why not pop into the West Coast Surf shop or even try challenge yourself to a spot of surfing. If you’re a pro surfer or just fancy learning something new this is a great holiday idea for anyone.

This week we were lucky enough to be one of the first to try out Zip World’s newest attraction, Zip Safari, before it opens to the public tomorrow (the 24th of March).

Llion our company director headed to Zip World Fforest just outside Betws y Coed and joined a group of people to preview the new attraction. Climbing 60ft into the trees, a course of zip lines and other obstacles await you. Experiences spectacular views above the tree canopy.

Zip World has become a leading attraction in Wales and this is a great addition to the portfolio. Costing £40 per person the course takes about 2 hours and is well worth a visit.

Mountain Biking at Coed y Brenin – Wales the Year of Adventure

Mountain biking is one of the most popular activities here in Wales, and the home of the sport is Coed y Brenin, Snowdonia. Last month our customer service coordinator Nia was lucky enough to head to Coed y Brenin to try out mountain biking for the first time as part of our Best of Wales year of adventure.

2016 is a big year for Coed y Brenin, which is managed by Natural Resources Wales. This year is the 20th anniversary of the first purpose built mountain bike trail in the UK at Coed y Brenin and since then the centre has become known across the globe for the quality of the trails on offer.

Nia started off by hiring her bike from on site bike shop Bikes Brenin before heading out on the MinorTaur trail, which is a blue graded trail suitable for families and beginners.

The team had a great time at Coed y Brenin and finished the day with a well deserved tea and cake at the Visitor Centre and Cafe. Watch how Nia got on here.

Best of Wales tackle ‘Wales the Year of Adventure’

2016 is the year of adventure here in Wales, a celebration of the great things to do and see in Wales. And if you’re thinking adrenaline sports and adventures are not for you, then don’t worry an adventure can be your very own personal adventure. A Food Adventure, a Cultural Adventure, or maybe a Family Adventure.

And here at Best of Wales we want to get involved in the year of adventure and at the same time show you some of the great things waiting for you here in Wales. So throughout the year our staff will be trying out their very own adventures, a new activity or destination in Wales, something that they haven’t done before.

Menai Brigde

We started our Best of Wales Year of Adventure on a glorious January day in Menai Bridge, Anglesey with Rib Ride Adventure Boat Tours. Elliw one of our Customer Service Operators had chosen this as her adventure. As a native of North Wales she has explored much of the area but had never ventured out on the Menai Straits in a boat and was very much looking forward to it (and we couldn’t have chosen a nicer day for it).

She was to head out on their Bridges and Swells trip with the famous Menai Suspension Bridge as the back drop to the trip.
