Anglesey Cycle Routes - Lon Las Cefni

Lon Las Cefni Cycleway in Anglesey, North Wales is one of the best family cycling routes you will find anywhere. This linear path is flat for most of its 13 miles with all but a couple of miles off-road, so there's no traffic to worry about. It goes from Newborough Forest to Llyn (Lake) Cefni and passes through some of the most spectacular scenery on the island in just two hours of trouble-free pedalling.
Along the route, which passes through Newborough Forest, cyclists can take in stunning views from the cob pool across Malltraeth estuary, then follow the banks of the Afon Cefni through 'Cors Ddyga' and Llangefni to the Cefni Reservoir, 'Llyn Cefni'. The villages of Bodffordd and Rhosmeirch are located at either end of the reservoir.
The cycleway is mostly straight with the occasional modest curve. Because of the nature of the terrain, the views are extensive. There is no tarmac apart from a mile near Llangefni, and the surface is slightly courser than many unsealed cycleways.
Start at the forest car park on the edge of Newborough Forest off the A4080 signposted Malltraeth. It is also possible to join the path by the clock tower in Llangefni where you can cycle towards Llyn Cefni or back towards Newborough.
