Getting to and around Wales

Getting to Wales

Travelling to Wales by air
Wales is easily reached from the London airports whether you travel by train, car or bus. If you rent a car, you can get from London to South Wales in only two to three hours. By train it’s even quicker, just two hours from London to Cardiff. If you prefer to travel by bus, National Express coach services travel direct to both South Wales and North Wales.

Cardiff Airport
The airport is situated in Rhoose, 12 miles (20 kms) south-west of Cardiff City Centre. Buses, trains and taxis link the airport to Cardiff City Centre. Taxis cost approximately £20 and bus times and information can be found on
Cardiff Airport's website.

Getting around Wales

Distances in Wales are very managable - after all, if you could travel in a straight line, our country is only about 180 miles long. Going around all the mountains, though, makes it about a 5 hour drive from top to bottom.

One thing you're sure to notice on your holiday in Wales is that the landscape and scenery changes quickly and dramtically - one minute you'll be travelling though a craggy mountain pass, the next you'll see our wide open countryside and coastline spread out below you.
