Enjoy luxury romantic holidays in gorgeous Mid Wales countryside, 2 miles above the little town of Llanfair Caereinion which has all the necessary amenities including shops, pubs, banks and even a steam train. The busy market town of Welshpool is also within 7 miles, offering many attractions including castles and a canal to take you back to a bygone era.
Take the short drive to the stunning lake Vyrnwy, where you can try your hand at watersports and cycling or enjoy a leisurely walk and good lunch. Golf and fishing are popular in this part of Wales, too, with plenty of golf courses and a coarse fishing lake.
If you’re after castles and culture, Mid Wales has both in spades. Nearby Dolforwyn Castle, for example, was the last castle to be built by Llewelwyn (the Last Prince of Wales), between 1273 and 1277. Powis Castle, which started life as a medieval fortress, is a must, especially for its beautiful gardens and collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture and tapestries.
Portmeirion and the Mountains of Snowdonia offer great days out whilst pony trekking and quad trekking are available locally. Other popular attractions include Llanrhaeadr Waterfall (the tallest in the UK), the Centre for Alternative Technology and King Arthur's Labyrinth.
