"Perfect relaxing holiday in the country " We had an amazing holiday, the cottage was clean and spacious, and very comfortable. The cottage is located in a beautiful setting with breathtaking views , all our needs were catered for from kitchen equipment, and toys for the children to finishing touches such as hand and body cream, aswell as a large supply of logs and coal , there is plenty to see and do locally , would recommend dolgoch falls, king arthurs labyrinth and the train ride ,/ ferry from fairbourne to Barmouth we really didn't want to leave, hope to be back again in the not too distant future. |

"A peaceful holiday in a peaceful place" We loved the cottage and the area and had a wonderful time together despite the rather damp weather! The owners were not far away but were discrete and unobtrusive. There were 7 of us (4 adults and 3 children) and so there was lots of space in the cottage. The outside equipment for the children was good and the toy cupboard great. The kitchen is well stocked with pans, crockery and cutlery. The en-suite room is very comfortable but the bed in the other double room we found a little uncomfortable. I've already mentioned the cottage to a colleague at work and he's taken the details for his family next year! |

"restful" We have stayed at Maes y Wennol before and loved it We were warmly welcomed by Ken and Lisa when we arrived a bit early, with a cup of tea and cake. The house was warm and cosy which we were glad of as the weather turned rather chilly. We had friends staying with us who didn't know the area and they were enchanted with it. The food at the Railway Inn at abergynolwyn was excellent and we ate there every night. The house had everything wee needed and more.My only criticism is that the beds are a bit too firm for our old bones. A topper would make all the difference. We are coming back in September, we love it so much More Review Details |

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the lovely holiday that me and my wife together with my son in law and daughter and my grand kids have had. The cottage was very comfortable and the scenery was a dream and the beaches were beautiful, wish we could stay a lot longer this was our third time in wales, Enjoyed a full day at Barmouth as the weather got bright and hot. In all the tranquillity was incredible as the sound of stream near the cottage was very soothing , visited all the beaches in surrounding area especially the grandkids enjoyed the day out on the steam trains. Thanks again to Lisa and her husband as they made us very comfortable. We will recommend to our friends thanks again hope to visit in near future |

"Wonderful Holiday" Maes Y Wennog in the Dysynni Valley, in sight of Bird Rock where cormorants nest, and close by is Caher Idris, a 3000ft climb, a challenge, I discovered. Our stay in this lovely valley couldn't have been better timed; the lambing season had begun along with mediterranean weather. From our first encounter with the perfectly situated Maes 7 Wennog (meadow of swallows) we felt so welcomed. Ken and Lisa Markham have created a comfortable, spacious and well stocked hide-away, perfect for family and friends. The living areas have stunning, uninterrupted view of the valley and Bird Rock, there was nothing wanting. We felt at home instantly. Thank you so much Ken, Lisa, Colin, Tom and Caitrin you've given us a holiday to remember |

"Heaven on earth" Great holiday. We all loved it. House was very clean and had all we needed and more - bikes, games, books. Views were breathtaking. The hosts were lovely and a great help with tips on what to do. Bird Rock, Cader Idris, the coast are all close. The views are amazing. Our 3 boys (16,14,7) loved it and want to go back ... and we definately will. Thanks for everything. |

"lovely location" A homely comfortable and clean cottage in a lovely, peaceful location. Gorgeous views, lovely walks nearby - mountains, castles, lakes and the sea. Plenty to do and see. Nice pub to eat out in abergynolwyn. Owner very friendly. Only negative comment is that the mattresses could have been more comfortable |

"tranquility and breath taking views" Stayed for a weekend at Maes Y Wennol with friends to get away from it all. There was 6 of us in the group and the accommodation suited our needs perfectly. Everything was incredibly clean and all in working order. The location is stunning - waking up to views of the beautiful valley which looks out to Bird Rock was incredible. The walks local to the area are fantastic, make sure you take a camera. We went on an 8 mile walk visiting Castell-y-bere on the way. We were constantly stopping to take in the views. Coming back from the walks and lighting a log fire with the view of the sun setting was worth the trip alone.
The cottage was warm with the rayburn burning when we arrived and the log fire ready to light which was a lovely touch. its a very cosy cottage with lots of space to relax and unwind. Sat outside with a glass of wine all we could hear was the stream next to the property . if you are looking for somewhere to feel at home, not worry and completely unwind away from the hussle and bussle, this is the cottage for you.
Thanks to the owners from the whole group for such a lovely break and warm welcome, we will certainly be recomending you and visiting again! |

"Perfect family holiday/getaway" My family and I have been visiting Maes-Y-Wennol since the summer of 2008, normally staying for a month each summer and for a week each in the October and February half terms. What keeps us coming back? The welcoming owners, the breathtaking, rural location, the family friendly bungalow. I have four children, aged 11, 7 and 4 year old twins and they all love it. Going to Maes-Y-Wennol has become a family tradiiton and I hope my children will have very fond memories of the time they spent there. The accomodation is extremely flexible, allowing for plenty of friends to visit. The beauty of this place is that we can spend the day pottering about (a walk to the river to throw stones/sticks is popular) or we can be more adventurous if we want. It's fabulous. |

"Absolutely first class, a wonderful place, beautifully kept" We have stayed for two years in early January in this fabulously located (and very warm - important in the winter!) house. We cannot recommend it highy enough, the location is stunning, the walking from teh house superb and the facilities are excellent, especially for a small group or a couple of families, and immaculately presented. |

"The loveliest place to stay in Mid Wales" Beautifully situated bungalow in the lovely, unspoilt Dysynni Valley in southern Snowdonia (Mid Wales). It was the family home of the owners - exceptionally welcoming and hospitable people - who now live just a bit further up the valley. (They farm the surrounding land including the slopes of Cader Idris.) It still has the warm feeling of a family home. The views from the bungalow are delightful - Birds Rock is a particularly striking feature, and an easy walk from the bungalow. There is wonderful walking over the hills around, including up to the summit of Cader Idris.
There are four good sized bedrooms two large double rooms - 1 with en suite facilities and 1 with adjoining nursery. The remaining 2 bedrooms are equipped with metallic bunk beds with 2 double beds at the base and single bed on the top. There is a large kitchen, lovely dining room and sitting room and a garden ideal for children.
This is a delightfully quiet area - the nearest shops are about a 15-20 minute drive away in Tywyn (which is on the coast). Its very much a place to recharge the batteries, and enjoy nature.
I knew when I arrived the first time I had found somewhere special to stay, and have returned since and found it just as special. |

It more than lived up to expectations. I visited for the first time in 2008, and on arriving at the cottage on a beautiful sunny afternoon I knew I had come to somewhere special....I stayed 2 weeks then, and returned last year for another week. Had time allowed that would have been a fortnight.

I would specifically recommend the wonderful walking in the area, and the owners, Lisa and Ken - both so welcoming and hospitable.

| My second visit and what a great pleasure to be back. This is the lovliest place I've ever stayed at in Wales and probably the whole of the UK. Beautiful house and views and in the most wonderful, scenic situation. Such tranquility (I've slept so well!) Lisa & Ken could'nt be more hospitable. (Thank you Lisa for that surprise on the doorstep the other day: delicious fare!) No wish to leave at all...so much to look forward to a future visit... Very many thanks and much appreciation for your warm hospitality. |

| Recommended by friends who live close by, this was a lovely, relaxed and tranquil holiday. Walked, ate, sea kayaked and watched movies. This is a gorgeous part of Britain and when the sun is on it (as it is at the moment) there are few views to equal it. |
