This semi-detached Abergavenny holiday cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Gilwern some 3 miles outside Abergavenny and amidst the Brecon Beacons National Park. Gilwern offers many amenities including traditional pubs, shops and a great fish and chip shop. Covering approximately 520 square miles, the National Park surrounds the village providing excellent walking, cycling and bird watching as well as great salmon and trout fishing on the river Usk.
Abergavenny, the aptly named 'Gateway to Wales' is nestled in the nearby hills and has something for everyone. With its many indoor and outdoor markets, magnificent castle and museums this medieval market town is sure to delight any visitor. Offering fantastic walks for all abilities as well as its own vineyard, the nearby mountain of Sugarloaf is well worth visiting. No matter what time of year, this wonderful little village has something in the area to suit all tastes and budgets. The Monmouthshire and BreconCanal runs past the property and is considered by many to be Britain's most picturesque canal, and, for much of its length, lies within the National Park's boundaries.
Llangorse Lake in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park and Black Mountains offers many opportunities for those interested in outdoor activities. Llangorse Lake is the largest natural lake in South Wales and is renowned for its Pike Fishing. There are numerous fishing opportunities in the area including in the canal and one of the best Salmon river in the UK - The Usk
