Cwlwm Busnes presents 2010 New Business Award

Best new business in Cardiff & District

Best of Wales scoops its second new business award in less than one year since it began trading in February 2010. The latest is the 2010 Cardiff and District New Business Award, presented by Cwlwm Busnes (Cardiff business group) and sponsored by Venture Wales.

The competition is held every two years with the aim of recognising and encouraging new businesses in the Cardiff area. This year’s £1,000 prize was presented to a company who works closely with owners throughout Wales to promote and take bookings for their four and five star holiday cottages online.

One of the elements that makes Best of Wales’ unique within the holiday cottage industry is the fact that it offers a bilingual service to customers and owners over the phone and by email. Thanks to this award from Cwlwm Busnes, the company will also be able to create a Welsh version of the website, establishing Best of Wales as the first choice for Welsh speakers who are looking to holiday in a luxury self-catering cottage in Wales.

According to one of the directors, Gareth Mahoney, the company has out-performed its expectations in the first year:

“Our aim for the first year was to get 50 cottages on the website. After less than 10 months we now have over a 100 with more in the pipeline. We are working hard to ensure that we are meeting our owners and customers’ expectations and this generates a lot of good will towards our company. Awards like this one are the icing on the cake and we’re very grateful.”

Additional to the introduction of a Welsh website in January 2011, there are many other exciting developments waiting to be launched in the New Year. This includes a high profile national video competition and additional services such as personal chefs, masseurs and Welsh language taster sessions that can be offered at the holiday cottages.

“We are very proud to show our support to Best of Wales – a company with a clear objective and a lot of potential,” said David Boobier, Director of Cwlwm Busnes.

“This is what contributed to our decision to award the company with this special honour, which is supported by Venture Wales. I look forward to seeing Best of Wales developing further and wish them the best of luck with their venture.”
