Looking for something to do this bank holiday weekend? Well you need to look no further than Wales. Here at Best of Wales we’ve come up with a selection of interesting and wonderful events that you could head to this weekend. You will find everything from Kite Festivals, to Jazz on steam trains to Welsh Open Stone skimming championships (yes we’re telling the truth).

Here is a low down of some of the events around Wales that we found. Please feel free to share with us on Facebook and Twitter if you know of any other wacky and interesting events.

Starting in North Wales why not head to Llandudno Air show which takes place on Saturday the 24th of May. Head to the promenade for the best views of the show. Staying on the theme of transport why not enjoy some Jazz on the Llangollen Railway also on Saturday the 24th. Jazz music will be played on both platforms and on the train throughout the journey. Also taking place in North Wales this Bank Holiday (starting Monday) is the Urdd National Eisteddfod, a festival of singing, dancing and celebration of Welsh culture. The largest youth festival in Europe!

If you’re looking for something a bit more energetic why not head to West Wales for the Aber Cycle Fest in Aberystwyth, that takes place from the 23rd — 25th of May. With Criterium racing, Downhill Mountain Biking and a Sportive all taking place it will be a great spectator event. If cycling isn’t your thing then you could always head to the National Botanic Garden of Wales, in Carmarthenshire, taking place at the Garden this weekend is a Hobbies Weekend. This is a great opportunity to have a go at everything from dancing, to cookery to canoeing.

Heading further into South Wales why not visit the Mumbles Marvellous Weekend (great for music and art lovers) or the Welsh Perry and Cider Festival at Caldicot Castle.

And finally before we finish I think this has to be my favourite event of the weekend…..the Welsh Open Stone skimming Championship in Llanwrtyd Wells. With categories for all ages head over to Llanwrtyd Wells to witness this wonderful event.

Looking for somewhere to stay in Wales this weekend then we do have some late availability in some wonderful properties. Take a look on our website to see what’s on offer.
