5 star luxury and pet-friendly cottage with a hot tub in the Brecon Beacons. Set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this renovated detached farmhouse sleeps up to 8 in four en suite bedrooms and is ideal for a family get together or for a group of friends. With 4 bedrooms, all with an en-suite. You can even climb Pen y Fan (the highest peak in South Wales) by joining the path that runs directly from the cottage. There are also many other attractions and activities nearby, including great fishing, watersports, activity centres, mountain biking, and for some retail therapy or sporting events, Cardiff is just under 40mins away.

Hot tub in garden, prefect to relax and enjoy the mountain view. The cottage is within 3 acres of grounds and includes 2 paddocks, front gravel areas and rear enclosed lawn and patio areas complete with garden furniture and BBQ and games shed that includes table tennis.
Please note there is a stream that runs alongside the garden but this is safely fenced off. There are garden games available including croquet and badminton.

  • This property has a £150 good housekeeping refundable bond, which is payable to Best of Wales along with the balance of your holiday. Alternatively, you can waiver this bond by paying a non-refundable fee of £5 per person instead.
  • The following items are also provided at the cottage for your stay… Kitchen: salt and pepper, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, t towels, new dishcloths and scourers, tin foil and cling film. Bathroom: soap and one loo roll per bathroom General cleaning products: bleach, shower cleaner, anti bacterial spray etc.

Local Area

Detached and secluded, this cottage is surrounded by National Trust woodland and fields and is within the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is only 4 miles from the market town of Brecon, where you will find the nearests shops, a farmers market (on selected dates) and plenty of places to eat and drink. The nearest pub is just over a mile away at Libanus, whilst there some other great pubs in the area including the White Swan in Llanfrynnach. Pen y Fan ( the highest point in South Wales) can be walked by following the trail directly from the cottage - if you prefer a slightly easier walk, you can drive to Storey Arms (2 miles) and walk from there. There are several other peaks to be walked, including Corn Du and Cribyn.

The Brecon Beacons National Park covers 520 square miles and includes spectacular mountain walks and countryside. The Park is also an official Dark Sky reserve, testament to the outstanding quality of the night sky. The River Usk (also famous for its salmon fishing ) runs through Brecon and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal starts here and runs for 35 miles. Also worth a visit is Hay on Wye. The Hay festival is held annually and is a world renowned festival of literature and arts. At Ystradfellte, you can enjoy the many spectacular waterfalls and walks.

The area has many great restaurants, including The Three Horeshoes in Groesffordd, Felin Fach Griffin, and Zeera in Brecon. Slightly further afield are the Hardwick in Abergavenny and The Walnut Tree in Llanddewi Skirrid

There are many other attractions in the area including Cantref Fun Farm and Adventure Centre, which is great for families, as it has many activities, both indoor and outdoor, to suit all weathers. The Play Barn in Brecon also offers an all-weather option with children's indoor softplay. Bike Park Wales is only 20 mins away and is one the best mountain biking centres in Europe.The city of Cardiff is also less than an hour away for some retail therapy or for many of the sporting events that take place there.

Pen y fan & Corn Ddu circular walks - Great strenuous mountain walk on well-made footpaths - 0.1 miles from cottage

Fishing

Excellent game fishing on the Usk with day permits available. approx 5 miles.

Golf

Cradoc Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole course in the Usk Valley above Brecon. 5 miles.

Horse Riding

Cantref Riding Centre is part of the activity and adventure centre with lessons and trails available.13 miles.

Cycling

Excellent lanes around the area that are great for road cycling. One of the best road climbs in Wales, The Devils Elbow is nearby . 4 miles.

Bike Park Wales is one of the UK's premier mountain biking centres. 14 miles



Major Events in the area include:

Royal Welsh Show, The Guardian Hay Festival and the Brecon Jazz Festival. Other major events at the Royal Welsh Showground include the 'Winter Fair' and the 'Spring Festival'.
