Description

This gorgeous 18th century cottage in the Brecon Beacons includes a huge traditional fire place, original wooden beams, stone floors and is full of character and history. Lovingly restored to an exceptional standard, this pet friendly cottage also includes your own telescope to make perfect use of the fact that it is located within a dark sky reserve. A BBQ lodge is a hugely popular feature and means you can relax around the fire and enjoy great food whatever the weather. The Brecon Beacons National Park extends to over 1300 square kilometers and includes mountain ranges, lakes, waterways, caves, trails, canals and is a haven for wildlife. There are a wide variety of activities and attractions to be enjoyed and there is a great local pub just a few miles away.

Open plan lounge and dining area with comfy leather sofas. Fantastic large inglenook fireplace (First basket of logs /coal included). TV, Freeview HD. 

Large dining table, perfect to gather around for a special meal. Seating for up to 6.

Fully equipped stylish kitchen with full sized fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, electric induction hob, electric oven. Gorgeous original wooden door.

 

1st floor 

Bedroom 1 - Double bedroom with decorative fireplace. 

Bedroom 2  - King size bed or can be a twin bedroom with 2 full size singles. 

Bathroom  - Stylish room with large shower, WC and basin.

 

Outside

Front enclosed garden with table and chairs. BBQ Lodge on the lawn of the main farmhouse. Further garden area, stream, and woodland to be enjoyed.

Outbuilding with safe motorbike, cycle and equipment storage. The unit also includes a tumble dryer.

Portable Bluetooth music speaker.

Welcome pack on arrival includes tea, coffee, sugar, milk and local delights.

Bed linen and towels provided.

Electricity and central heating included.

Plenty of parking.

First basket of logs/coal included with log fire, but more wood available to purchase nearby.

The following items are also provided at the cottage for your stay… Kitchen: salt and pepper, kitchen roll, washing up liquid/dishwasher tabs, new dishcloths and scourer, Bathroom: soap and 2 toilet rolls per toilet. General cleaning products: bleach, shower cleaner, anti-bacterial spray etc.

Local Area

This cottage adjoins the main farmhouse and is situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The remote location is just 1 mile from the village of Sennybridge, a village on the river Usk that includes a convenience store, post office, garage and several pubs. 

The market town of Brecon is around 7 miles away with some great shops selling local produce. The boathouse on the River Usk is a popular location for hiring pedalos and rowing boats. It is also the starting point of the Taff Trail, a 56 mile cycle path that leads all the way down to Cardiff. The village of Defynnog which boasts 2 great local pubs, The Tanners and the Old Yew Tree is only a few miles away. It is also home to the International Welsh Rarebit Centre that serves excellent food and is well worth a visit.

The Brecon Beacons National Park was the first in the UK to achieve Geopark status as part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. It is also an official Dark Sky reserve, and on a clear night, you will be amazed at the wonder of night sky, thanks to almost zero light pollution. Attractions in the area including the spectacular Ystradfellte Waterfalls, the Brecon Mountain Railway and Dan yr Ogof Caves. Pen-y-fan is the highest mountain in the park and a popular walk.

Cardiff is around 40 miles away and a very popular destination. From sporting events at the stadium to the great shopping, it has something for everyone.
