Description

Set in glorious countryside, just outside the town this Builth Wells accommodation is perfect for a family or friends get together. With local fishing rights included and many attractions, activities and events nearby, the cottage is the perfect place to be active in the fresh clean country air or just to relax and unwind. Disabled friendly with wheelchair access via a ramp, ground floor bedroom and wc wet room with hand rails and shower chair.

In an open plan spacious design the fully equipped kitchen leads on to the dining area and the large lounge space. With many original beams and some original features dating back to 1784 the building has been converted into an Eco-lodge style cottage, powered by solar panels and air source heat pump. It has underfloor heating on the ground floor and central heating on the first floor.

Ground floor

Lounge - Comfy leather sofas situated around the large wood burner,(wood included). Freeview TV and DVD. (with DVD's available to borrow from the owners) There is also a large selection of books, games and local guides.
Kitchen – Stylishly designed and including dishwasher, large fridge , electric oven, microwave, slow cooker and toaster.
Dining table with seating for 8 people.
Ground floor bedroom – Large room that includes double bed and also a double sofa bed that can be used to sleep an additional 2 guests for an additional charge of £50
Ground floor bathroom – Wet room with full disabled access (inc shower chair and hand rails), WC and shower.    Please be aware that the bathroom on the ground floor is not next door to the bedroom on the ground floor.
Utility room – includes full sized freezer, washing machine and sink.

Upstairs

Bedroom 2 – This master bedroom is a large room with views across Garth Hill and Aberedw. Double bed with walk in wardrobe, ensuite shower and wc.
Master Bathroom - Bath (no shower) and wc.
Bedroom 3 – Large double bedroom with cupboard, leading onto ensuite with shower and wc.
Bedroom 4 – Twin bedroom (2 single beds), cupboard, window and skylight.

Garden

Enclosed lawn and garden area with garden table and furniture. Surrounded by trees and set above a small river (Nantgwyn). It is lovely to sit outside and enjoy the natural sound of the river and the wildlife. The garden catches the sun for most of the day

Dan yr Eglwys is a detached building set near the Church in the tiny hamlet of Llanddewi’r Cwm. This Builth Wells accommodation is set within a farm covering 300 acres and is nestled in the foothills of the Epynt Mountains. Children are welcome to come and help feed or see the animals (please arrange with farmer first). The mountain road from Builth Wells to Brecon passes through Llanddewi’r Cwm and the Market town of Builth Wells with the Royal Welsh Showground just 2 miles away. To the South, the town of Brecon is 15 miles away. Cardiff is just over an hour away and ideal if you fancy a day of retail therapy.

In addition to hosting the Royal Welsh Show, Builth Wells hosts many shows and events all year around and has many shops, restaurants and pubs with many serving local produce. There are also some all-weather attractions including a Cinema and Sports Centre.

The area is famous for its Salmon fishing in the Wye and its walking with the Wye Valley Walk, Epynt Mountains, Brecon Beacons and the Elan Valley nearby, you’ll be spoilt for choice. There are even walks directly from the cottage.

There are also good eating places in the vicinity serving local produce, these include Builth Wells Golf Club, The Greyhound, Caer Beris and Hundred House. There are plenty of good traditional country pubs, including the Severn Starts in Aberedw and the Prince in Cilmeri that is named after Llewelyn, the last native Prince of Wales of direct descent who was slain here.

Walking

With the Epynt Way, Wye Valley Walk and the Elan Valley and the Brecon Beacons National Park are all nearby. There are many walks to choose from including walks straight from the door. 0.1 miles.

Fishing

Wild trout fishing available on site. The farm includes 2 large stretches of river bank on tributaries of the river Wye. 0.1 miles.

Golf

Builth Wells Golf Club is attractively laid out and is suitable for all levels. 2.6 miles.

Horse Riding

There are many interesting bridal paths and trails in the area including Llanwrtyd Wells Riding and Trekking . 15 miles.

Cycling

Great road cycling on quiet lanes. The road near the cottage is actually part of the 'Tour of Britain' cycle race route. 0.1 miles.

Superb mountain biking trails to suit all levels and distances including 2 of the best downhill MTB trails in the UK in Rhayader. Also great trails at Brecon and Llanwrtyd Wells. 15 miles.

Major Events in the area include:

Royal Welsh Show, The Guardian Hay Festival and the Brecon Jazz Festival. Other major events at the Royal Welsh Showground include the 'Winter Fair' and the 'Spring Festival'.
