Reviews

This is a fantastic farmhouse to stay in. We were a mix of family and friends, 10 adults and nearly one year old twins. Had everything we needed and more. Plenty of room for everyone. Susan could have not been more helpful. Went to heritage centre where she was doing a duty and filled us in on the history of Llanwrtyd Wells which was very interesting. Would definitely return to this farmhouse.Brenda from UK - 27th August 2018
We had a lovely weekend in an excellent property and the owner's Mum was lovely! We could not fault it and hope to use it again next year for when we come to Wonder Wool Wales.June from Cheshire - 9th May 2018
I can thoroughly recommend this property. Ffermdy Llanwrtyd really is a lovely property - a very attractive and sympathetic restoration of a historic building, but highly practical too. The area is great for walking, and the cultural centre (in a converted chapel in the town centre) is also worth visiting. The owners of Ffermdy Llanwrtyd are polite, friendly, and go the extra mile to ensure good service. We’ll certainly be staying here again!Anthony from Brighton - 6th January 2018
These are truly amazing properties in a truly inspirational location. The party was made up of people from Hungary, Spain, United States, England as well and north and south Wales. I think they agreed that it was one of the most amazing places they had visited and many will return again... the view down the valley is inspirational. I will personally be looking to return in January next year. The owners are amazing too, a very warm Welsh welcome from a very friendly host. Simply brilliant. Phil from Ebbw Vale - 14th December 2017
An ideal safe place to bring young children and for them to have the freedom to be outside. Plenty of space indoors for six adults and four small people to spread out!
Tips: Don't be put off by the exterior of the pub in the town. If you enjoy the countryside and don't expect commercial entertainment bring your wellies, an OS map and explore!Family from Lancashire - 15th June 2017
It was an amazing property and amazing surroundings. The owner was ever so nice. Absolute delight.
Recommends: We found out that there were beautiful walks near by.Tanjou from London (Bulgarian) - 24th April 2017

The Crychan and Halfway Forest (Red Kite country) is set in beautiful countryside nestling between the Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian Mountains. There are miles of paths and trails that take you through tranquil grassy gorges, along old drover's routes and past cascading waterfalls, taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains of Mid Wales.

Llandovery is a traditional Welsh market town in the Upper Towy (Twyi) valley, bounded by three rivers. Its name means 'church amidst the waters'. Cycling in Llandovery

The relatively flat Tywi Valley soon starts to buckle and burst into life as the Brecon Beacons make their presence felt, east of Llandeilo and towards Llandovery. As the valley skirts the western side of the Brecon Beacons and then snakes its way lazily towards Carmarthen, you can follow the path of the river from Llandeilo and you’re gifted with views that are normally reserved for Arthurian l...

Local Area

This Llanwrtyd Wells Holiday Cottage is detached and set on a plot of land aross from another holiday cottage (Llety Llanwrtyd) located about 1.5 miles from the small town of Llanwrtyd Wells. Self proclaimed as the smallest town in the UK it has several great local pubs a few places to eat and some small shops.

Llanwrtyd lies between the Brecon Breacons and the Elan Valley in a area of outstanding natural beauty and wilderness. The cottage is within a beautiful valley that has been classed a site of special scientific interest due to the diverse range of many rare birds, animals and plants.

Right in the heart of Wales, this Llanwrtyd Wells accommodation is the perfect location for exploring the Brecon Beacons, Cambrian Mountains and the hills, valleys and forests that are the great outdoors of Mid Wales, as well as the nearby towns of Builth Wells, Llandovery and Brecon. In Victorian times, Llanwrtyd Wells was a fashionable spa town and many of its hotels date back to that time.

The area around Llanwrtyd Wells is full of natural beauty and breathtaking scenery, making it an ideal centre for walking, mountain biking, bird watching and touring. As you drive through Mid Wales it is often possible to spot a red kite, one of Britain’s rarest birds. There are plenty of options for walking and hiking nearby in the Irfon Forest and around the Llyn Brianne Reservoir, an artificial lake which was created in the 70′s when the River Towy was dammed. At times of low rainfall, it is sometimes possible to see the roofs of the houses which had to be flooded in order for the dam to go ahead.

There is a lot going on in Llanwrtyd Wells throughout the year, so if you are looking for something a little bit different, then this is the place to come. This Mid Wales town is the home of the Man versus Horse Marathons, the World Bog Snorkeling Championships and the Real Ale Ramble.

Walking

The 15 mile route around Llyn Brianne provides some of the most splendid views available in Wales. Leaping Stiles provides some excellent suggestions for walking in the area. There are also many local trail and hill walks from the cottage. 0.2 miles.
