Beautiful and secluded, this self catering Mid Wales cottage offers many special features, including a welcoming woodburner and amazing views. Set 1000ft up in the Cambrian Mountains, Blaenglanhanog is a 250 year old Drover’s farmhouse, near the “Laura Ashley” village of Carno (good local shop, post office, church & pub). Look out for those red kites, explore the Hafren Forest, visit Clywedog Reservoir and Dam and the beautiful market towns of Mid Wales.
From the cottage porch area you enter a cosy, beamed and fully carpeted sitting room with oak beamed inglenook fireplace and log burning stove. Comfortable suite of 2 seat and 3 seat sofas and 1 matching chair, Laura Ashley curtains and cushions. Flat screen TV, DVD, CD and radio. Stairs off.
Through to the right is a small beamed dining room with oak table and chairs for 6 people. Window onto garden and original quarry tiles to floor.
This self catering Mid Wales cottage has a bright kitchen with traditional oak units, ceramic sink, fridge freezer and electric cooker. There is a good range of kitchen utensils & equipment and plate rack with crockery set. Attached to the kitchen, up a step, is an utility area with microwave oven, dishwasher, tumble dryer and washing machine. There is also an airing cupboard with ironing board and iron and a central heating boiler.
The ground floor bathroom offers a slate floor, heated towel rail, modern “P” shaped bath with shower over. Large modern sink and lavatory.
The ground floor bedroom at the other side of the lounge is a light room with two windows, one overlooking the picturesque valley. Twin single beds with double duck down quilts and new pillows. Wardrobe, two bedside chests with lamps, rocking chair and a chest of drawers with mirror over.
The cottage has two very comfortable double bedrooms upstairs. The first bedroom has original beamed ceiling, wardrobe, chest of drawers with mirror, bedside chest with lamp. The second has original beamed and panelled ceiling, a built in wardrobe and chest of drawers with mirror and lamp. Bedside shelf unit with lamp and large shelf with lamp. Both double beds come with king size duck down quilt & new pillows.
The upstairs shower room also has a beamed ceiling and tiled floor and includes modern white suite with walk in shower, lavatory and pedestal wash basin. Heated towel rail, bathroom cabinet, mirror and shaving socket also provided.
Enclosed garden to front of cottage with seating area and patio set to seat 6. You can enjoy the campfire and BBQ and take in the lovely views over the valley.

This self catering Mid Wales cottage was originally the farmhouse for the land around it and is surrounded by countryside views and tranquillity.
The nearest village is the “Laura Ashley” village of Carno (1.5 miles) which has a good local shop, post office, church & pub which does good pub grub. The cottage is about equidistant between the charming market towns of Machynlleth, Llanidloes and Newtown which are all about 15 miles away and all have lots of independent shops and good country markets.
The nearest railway station is 6 miles with connections across Wales and beyond and there is a local bus service that stops by request at the bottom of the road.
Popular attractions in the area include the red kites, Hafren Forest, Clywedog Reservoir and Dam, Snowdonia National Park (12 miles), the largest wind farm in Europe and the Centre for Alternative Technology (12 miles).
Amongst popular activities in the Area are the Forest Experience Rally School in Carno and within a few miles there is quad trekking, golf, cycling, clay pigeon shooting, narrow gauge railways, bird watching, walking, sailing and fishing. Three miles away is Machinations exhibition, café, children’s play barn and rabbit village.
Lovely beaches within easy reach in Aberdyfi and Borth (about 40 minutes). Newtown has a good local theatre and lots of places to eat. Machynlleth and Llanidloes both have award winning restaurants and excellent weekday and weekend markets. There is a strong “eco” movement in the area and whole foods and local foods feature strongly.
Glyndwr's Way is a long distance footpath in Mid Wales that was granted National Trail status in the year 2000. 3 miles from the cottage.
Dyfi Mountain Biking – All routes start from Machynlleth. 15 miles
Hafren Forest Trail – Various routes suitable for cyclists just outside the town of Llanidloes. 16 miles
Clywedog Sailing Club - 6 mile lake, open to all types of non powered watercraft from canoes and sailboards to dinghies, cruisers and keelboats. 17 miles.
