This lovely old farmhouse is situated on the owners’ working farm, at the end of a quiet no-through lane just outside the hamlet of Penylan in the Dee Valley between Chester (25 miles) and Wrexham, 3 miles from the village of Ruabon, within easy reach of the many attractions of Chirk and Llangollen.
Entrance is into a large Utility Room, with fridge freezer and washing machine, plenty of space to store coats, boots etc and ground floor WC adjacent. One step up into the kitchen, spacious and well fitted, with electric range cooker, microwave and ample cupboards and worktop space. Another step up leads into the cosy dining room, with dining table and four chairs, and a wood burning stove with two comfortable armchairs, ideal for relaxing while the dinner cooks! The hallway has the “front” door, leading out into the garden area overlooking an orchard/meadow (sometimes used for grazing) and the beautiful countryside views. The staircase rises from the hallway and another door leads into the sitting room, well furnished with two sofas, coffee table, an open fire and Smart TV. WiFi is also available.
Two well-presented bedrooms, a king size and a twin, each with a full range of bedroom furniture. bathroom and snug. There is also a third room upstairs with sofa, ideal for reading and relaxing, or for the children to play. The spacious family bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and WC. Please note that there are changes of level on the first floor, with steps up and down between landing, bedrooms and snug, and three steps down into the bathroom.
The Old Farmhouse stands at the far end of the farm, with lovely views from its lawned garden, with garden furniture. The garden is not enclosed.
Parking adjacent to the farmhouse.
There is one other small property nearby, the owners’ farmhouse, barns and other farm buildings across the yard, behind The Old Farmhouse. This is a peaceful, rural location, but not entirely isolated.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
Electricity and central heating included.
Highchair and travel cot available. Please bring your own cot linen.
Sorry, no pets – but please note that there are several friendly dogs on the adjacent farm, along with chickens, ducks and geese. Sheep and rams may graze in the orchard at the front of the cottage.
Short breaks are available outside of main holiday weeks.
I would definitely recommend. Thank you for everything.
Very spacious and well equipped.
We loved the farmhouse and had a wonderful visit exploring the area and visiting with family. Very peaceful, quiet nights, the area and visiting with family. Very peaceful, quiet nights, and our 6 year old loved the sheep in the back garden!
Set up as home from home style of accommodation, extremely comfortable, and well equipped for a family or group stay.
