The cottage was everything you could want. The owners, Liz and Richard, were so kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in the local pub and bar were superb and not expensive. We were able to experience most of the little steam railways in North Wales. These were amazing. One of the most beautiful areas was the Llyn Peninsula, an area not to be missed. Wonderful holiday. Everything worked out well and we would certainly use the company again and visit another area of Wales.Bill from Middlesex - 24th September 2018
The property was excellent. The owner's Richard and Lisa could not do enough to make us welcome in their home. We will definitely be going again.Mr Steve Jones - 16th July 2018

Set in the quiet village of Friog, less than a mile to Fairbourne with its beautiful beach, shops and train station, and a short walk to Blue Lake. Tawelfan holiday annex is located behind the owners’ house and overlooks mountains and fields all the way to the coast on the horizon.
The nearest shops (including a grocery) are 0.3 mile from the doorstep whilst Fairbourne also offers a selection of eateries such as Indiana Cuisine and Bwyty Bach Deli (0.3 miles) and Penrhyn Bar & Grill (0.7 miles) where you can also enjoy a relaxing drink. Other recommended places to eat include a range of restaurants in Dolgellau (9.5 miles) such as Tafarn y Gader Tapas Bar, Meirionydd, Dylanwad Da and Torent Pub. Barmouth (14 miles by road / 5 minutes across the estuary by train) also offers a good selection of restaurants such as The Last Inn, Bistro Bermo and The Tilman.
There are a wide range of attractions in the area, starting with Fairbourne on your doorstep. Here you can ride a miniature steam train from the village to the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary. From this point you can proceed to Barmouth on a small ferry which pulls up on a Blue Flag beach at the other side of the estuary. You can also catch the 'full sized' train across the estuary, or you can walk or cycle across on the Mawddach Trail – a truly stunning walk along an old railway line from Barmouth to Dolgellau. There's a pony trekking centre just 0.7 mile away and a lovely walk up to Blue Lake (one of Snowdonia's hidden gems) in the mountains above Tawelfan where you can enjoy stunning coastal views.
The cottage is also within Snowdonia National Park and a walk up Cader Idris, one of its most popular mountains, is highly recommended. Also worth a visit is Coed y Brenin mountain biking centre, The Centre for Alternative Technology, Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur's Labyrinth. Not to forget Talyllyn’s narrow gauge railway, Castell y Bere and Harlech castle (a World Heritage Site), the classic Italian village of Portmeirion and adventures such as the Zip Ride and Bounce Below, this area provides the perfect setting for your North Wales coastal holidays.
