Description

Carreg Cottage is a recently renovated cottage in a fabulous location, nestled in mountains, in Capel Curig, right in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Footpaths will take you from the door up the popular mountain of Moel Siabod or over to the lakes of Crafnant and Geirionydd, whilst a regular bus service, with bus stop right outside the cottage, will take you the short distance to the foot of Snowdon, for paths up to the summit of the highest mountain in Wales.

The cottage is well set up for outdoor activities with a large utility room for outdoor kit, a washing machine and a cosy wood burning stove in the sitting room.

Ground Floor

The Cottage is a white painted terraced cottage, guests are encouraged to use the back door and enter through the spacious utility room where boots shoes and outdoor clothing can be kept. Alternatively, the front door leads into the sitting room.

The sitting Room has two comfortable sofas, side tables and a wood burning stove in the traditional Welsh fireplace with its impressive local slate lintel. There is practical wood style flooring with a rug over, Freesat TV/DVD/ CD player/WiFi, games and books.

The spacious kitchen/diner is a lovely light filled room with wooden style flooring and part tiled walls. The modern fitted kitchen is well equipped, with plenty of storage, and includes an integrated electric oven and ceramic hob with extractor fan, a dishwasher and fridge. A door leads to the utility room and cloakroom. The dining area has a wooden table and chairs for six.

The utility Room has a door to the rear. This room houses the washing machine and freezer, there is also an additional sink and storage cabinets and door leading to the ground floor cloakroom with WC and basin.

Reviews

Carreg Cottage was just what we needed, a comfortable base from which to explore North Wales. Our family felt very well served by the facilities available to us in the cottage, and we had an excellent holiday.

Miss Juliette C,

Thank you so much for the excellent customer service and helping me with my special request. The cottage was in the location I wanted and what a great, clean, amazing place. Nothing needs improving as its perfect. Thank you once again and we will be back. Thank you.

Mr Martin P,

Excellent service from start to finish. Carreg Cottage was an outstanding property, incredibly well thought through with everything that you could need supplied. Beautifully clean, light and airy with very comfy beds, well appointed accommodation and a lovely log burner for those chillier evenings. Perfectly placed for walking in the stunning Snowdonia mountain ranges with Moel Siabod on the doorstep for more challenging walks and plenty of easier walks directly from the door. The Plas-Y-Brenin outdoor centre just 5 minutes down the road offers great activities, a bar and restaurant and interesting talks from local guides as does the excellent Moel Siabod cafe which is just 5 minutes in the other direction. The cottage was excellent value for money - we would have no hesitation in returning in the future and would recommend both the property and Wales Cottage Holidays to friends and family as the whole holiday was well organised, painless and problem free.

Miss Joanna C,

Very well modernised cottage, spacious with plenty of storage space.

Gillian F,

Beautifully presented and very welcoming!

Mrs Linda H,

It is a lovely cottage for a family with a handy utility room (which forms the back entrance) and plenty of space, a bright kitchen ad nice eating area as well as a cosy lounge with a wood burning stove. The area is quiet and there is no noise from the road nearby (we slept with windows closed, may be different in high summer if people want to leave windows open?). The area is beautiful, with walks starting minutes from the cottage and a very nice pub only 5 minutes walk away. There are many activities and points of interest a short drive away, enough to keep a family busy for days!

Ms Veronique A,

Stunning cottage, would definitely recommend.

Mrs Helen W,

This cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, the finish of the decor is excellent and what seems like a small cottage from the outside is very spacious inside, I particularly liked the kitchen and the use of skylights to let in natural light. Top notch location, so much to do either a short walk or drive away.

Mr Ian L,

The cottage has been beautifully restored with excellent kitchen and bathroom amenities. Exceptionally clean and light. The Broadband connection was far superior to what we are used to and Android TV was a revelation. Very well located for exploring the area around Mount Snowdon and easy to park outside. The Sherpa bus stops in front of the cottage. Local shop nearby and places to eat. Very easy to communicate with the friendly owners. Highly recommended.

Lynn B,

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is really nice and well laid out. We enjoyed some good days out including walking the valley to Lake Ogwen, climbing Snowdon, visiting Porthmadog (Big Rock Cafe was nice), a local walk to Llyn Crafnant and Great Orme at Llandudno. Also enjoyed our evenings in front of the log burner and at the Bryn Tyrch pub. Thank you.

Mrs Susan B,

Really well laid out cottage. We particularly liked the boot room, for when we returned from wet and muddy walks! Excellent location for all we wanted to do - from Zipworld to Snowdon. The folder was very useful too, we tried Bryn Tyrch, which was brilliant, used the buses from outside the front door and sampled a couple of local walks. Would definitely recommend.

Mr P J,
