Description

Bwthyn Gwyr is a 3 bedroom self-catering cottage in the quiet village of Southgate on the Gower Peninsula, South Wales, just a stone’s throw from Pennard Golf Club and a 5 minute walk from the coast and some of Wales’ most spectacular scenery at Pobbles and Three Cliffs Bay. This family-friendly cottage is a great base for holidays on the Gower Peninsula.

Ground Floor

This cottage has a sunny lounge with a 3-piece suite and patio window to the garden. There is an electric fire, flatscreen TV with Freesat, DVD player and free Wi-Fi internet.

The kitchen/diner offers fitted units, ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, iron, utensils and crockery for six. The dining table has 6 chairs.

Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Bedroom 1 - king-size bed with wardrobe and bedside tables.

Bedroom 2 - twin single beds with wardrobe and bedside tables

Local Area

Detached Gower Holiday cottage, located within the gates of a farm in the village of Southgate. It has a gated private road access and is 200 metres from Pennard Golf Club. Only a half a mile away is the stunning Three Cliffs Bay. The Gower was the first designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' in the whole of Wales, as well as in the rest of the British Isles. The 19-mile long Peninsula comprises of some of Wales’ cleanest and most stunning beaches, including Rhossili, where you can enjoy the most spectacular view of the famous Worm’s Head and Llangennith Beach that is recognised as one of the premier surf beaches in the UK.

There's a historic ruin in the centre of the farm where the cottage is located, originally housing priests of the Knights’ Templar in medieval times. This Gower holiday cottage is a ideal location for walking and enjoying the spectacular coastal scenery.

Good footpath routes lead from the cottage to wooded valleys, heather moors, cliff walks and sandy beaches. To the West of the cottage, a footpath around the boundary of the farm leads to Pobbles and Three Cliffs Bay. From there, at low tide, five miles of sand are exposed to Oxwich Bay. Paths then lead to Port Eynon and Paviland Caves (site of one of the earliest known human burial remains in the UK, thought to be more than 25,000 years old). Inland walks from the cottage cross the golf course by public footpath lead to the ancient ruins of Pennard Castle. Other activities to enjoy in the area include golf, exploring the bays and pony trekking.

The are also plenty of indoor activities nearby including the Leisure Centre (LC2) in Swansea offering swimming, water park entertainment and first class sports facilities. Swansea city centre has shopping facilities to equal any major city, and also an enviable selection of restaurants providing a choice of many cuisines. The city also boasts free access to maritime and industrial museums and art galleries. On the outskirts of the city are delightful parks and miles of countryside and seaside promenade walks.

Beaches

Three Cliffs Bay forms a continuous sandy beach with Oxwich Bay beach to the west. They only exist as separate beaches at high tide. 0.5 miles
