Description

This gorgeous converted barn in Porthcawl sleeps up to 10. Within walking distance of a local country pub (about 100 metres away) Yr Hen Ysgubor is perfect for families, get-togethers, special occasions and much more. There are wonderful beaches, restaurants, several great golf courses, Merthyr Mawr and Kenfig sand dunes plus plenty of attractions for all ages and tastes. The area is well know for surfing, walking, swimming , cycling , fishing and golf. Cardiff is around half an hour away (by car) , perfect for large concerts and sporting events or a spot of retail therapy.

 

Ground Floor

Lounge and dining area with stunning oak beams, traditional fireplace and wood burner, deep sofas and table and chairs to sit up to 10. TV with full sky package including sports.

Huge farmhouse style kitchen with central island and stools, 5 ring Rangemaster gas hob, freestanding Whirlpool fridge and freezer with ice dispenser, dishwasher, Belfast sink in island  

Reading room/second lounge off the kitchen with sofas and TV.

Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

 

Upstairs

Bedroom 1  - King size bed, vanity station and plenty of wardrobes and storage.

Bedroom 2 - King size bed and single bed.

Master bathroom - With roll top bath, shower unit,  his and hers wash basins and toilet. 

Bedroom 3 - Two single beds and 1 extra pull out bed. En-suite with toilet, basin and shower unit.

Bedroom 4 - King size bed. En-suite with stylish bath, toilet and wash basin.  Bedroom 4 is accessed from stairs via kitchen and not linked to rest of the upstairs bedrooms. 

 

Outside

Front courtyard area (enclosed by large gates) with table, chairs and a parasol. Charcoal BBQ.

Local Area

Located in the quiet village of Nottage with a great local pub just a few hundred yards away. This converted barn is semi-detached and is within the village itself that has a few local shops and the closest convenience store is within 50 yards. Porthcawl and the nearest beach is just over 1 mile away.  Porthcawl has a marina, several beaches, fairground, restaurants, pubs and shops. Each September the Annual Elvis festival is held here. 

The Merthyr Mawr sand dunes cover over 840 acres and are a haven for wildlife. They are also very popular with runners and sports people who come to the dunes to train. A number of motion pictures have been filmed here, including Lawrence of Arabia.  To the west of Porthcawl lie Kenfig sand dunes: the whole area was once the largest sand dune system in Europe.

In addition to the outdoor activities, there are also plenty of indoor options nearby, including the Bridgend Designer Outlet, Odeon Complex and Ewenny Craft Centre. Being only a short drive away from Cardiff and Swansea, there are also plenty of shopping opportunities and large events that can be easily reached. There are plenty of good places to eat including the Rose and Crown (just yards away) Star Inn at Treoes and The Carne Arms in Llysworney.
