October 2017, the Volvo Ocean Race fleet set off from Alicante, Spain on a race around the world, visiting 12 cities touching six continents. The ultimate ocean marathon, across the world’s toughest oceans, covering a distance of 46,000 nautical miles over eight months. And for the first time in its history the race will stop in Cardiff from the 27th of May to 10th of June 2018.
Cardiff Bay will be the home of the race giving you an opportunity to explore the city while experiencing this iconic race. The Volvo Ocean Race festival site, called the Race Village, will be located on the scenic Cardiff Bay Barrage. And make sure you head to the village to enjoy a range of entertainment, themed Volvo Ocean Race activities, local food and drink stalls and more. A great opportunity to learn about the ultimate ocean race experience a range of action-packed activities, visit the trade stalls or just relax and listen to the live music on the waterfront.
