This detached cottage was originally built in the late 1800's and is set in an elevated position overlooking farm buildings and out on to open countryside. It is accessed via a single track lane and is only 400 meters from the coastal road, giving easy access to all locations along the Ceredigion Coast, including Aberaeron 2 miles, New Quay 5 miles and the university town of Aberystwyth 20 miles.
Aberaeron is a small but charming harbour town with beautiful Georgian architecture and brightly painted houses, a shingle beach and a good selection of interesting small boutiques and local shops. There are many places to eat and drink, including the well know Harbourmaster and the Hive restaurants. In the summer, fresh locally caught fish can bought on the quayside, where you will also find a great ice cream parlour which is very popular with children and ice cream lovers of all ages. Be sure not to miss the Cardigan Bay Food Festival which is held in July on the quayside
New Quay is the dolphin capital of Wales, with boat trips running regularly from the harbour to see these magnificent mammals. There are even shore line marks where you can see the dolphins from dry land. New Quay has a lovely sandy beach and many restaurants and local pubs, as well as the largest bee farm in Wales, the New Quay Honey Farm where you can buy honey, mead and bees wax.
Only 18 miles away is the university town of Aberystwyth, home to the National Library of Wales. Aberystwyth has a seafront promenade and pier and 2 great beaches of its own. The Cambrian Mountains lie inland, offering great walking, mountain biking and a variety of locations to spot beautiful Red Kites. Further inland, you will find Lampeter, another a university town (12.5 miles), whilst 20 miles to the south is Cardigan. This stretch of coastline between Aberaeron and Cardigan has some magical beaches including New Quay, Llangrannog, Tresaith, Penbryn and Mwnt. The whole area is famous for its dolphin population. Boat trips can be booked to see the dolphins but you can also see them from dry land at several locations, including Mwnt, New Quay and the nearby headland. Cardigan is a market town with a recently restored Castle. The River Teifi flows through the town and historically was one of the best salmon rivers in the UK.
