Reviews

Hafod was a great little place to stay near Aberystwyth. The cottage had everything needed for our stay, was comfortable and cosy. Great communication also from the owner and caretaker, and would truly recommend this cottage if looking for a quiet location to stay on the outskirts of Aberystwyth.

Mr D,

Had a lovely weekend stay at this great property. Convenient, very clean, great facilities & comfortable property for a family break. Loved it will definitely be back.

Mrs P,

Highly recommend this beautiful clean, lovely lay out property. Everything you need for your stay with plenty of space. And a great location to everywhere. 5 mins from Aberystwyth. So lovely and quiet spot. Just perfect.

Mrs P,

Lovely property with everything you could need. Great location. Would definitely recommend it. Had a perfect long weekend .

Mrs G,

Hafod aber was extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed our stay, just wish we were there for longer! I would highly recommend!

Mr C,

Great place to stay. Lovely property and the caretaker is very friendly and helpful. Biggest thing for me was it had its own EV charge point. We drive a full Electric car so it took a big strain off the holiday having that at the cottage.

Mrs H,

This is a return visit to Hafod. First time was back in 2017. The cottage is just as beautiful as ever! Lovely welcome with Welsh Cakes and bubbles. The cottage was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children and the pup. The park nearby was brilliant for the kids. We have enjoyed daily walks on the local beaches and enjoyed a drive out to New Quay harbour and Aberaeron. Also had a lovely 10K walk to Aberystwyth along the cycle route. Thoroughly enjoyed our quiet getaway and hope to return in the future

P family,

What a find. Very relaxing cottage with everything you could ask for. Enjoyed our stay visiting all there is to see. Weather was dry and we could enjoy the views at their best. Had a wonderful time and would like to come back to enjoy another season.

Past Customer,

Our 3rd visit did not disappoint. Lucky to have blue skies and sunshine very day in December! Have lit the wood burner on cosy night and enjoyed the hot tub. The welcome pack was just what we needed after our journey. Loved visiting the Silver Mountain and Fantasy Farm.

Past Customer,

Map

Located up a quiet lane on the outskirts of Llanfarian village, less than 3 miles from the bustling seaside town of Aberystwyth on the Cardigan Bay coast. This detached, contemporary cottage is situated on a former railway line, which now forms part of the scenic, 20 mile long Ystwyth bike trail that links Aberystwyth to Tregaron.

The university town of Aberystwyth (literally translated - Mouth of the River Ystwyth) is centrally located on the mid-west Wales coast. It offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as supermarkets and a new Marks & Spencer store. It also features two beaches and a promenade, as well as direct access to the Wales Coast Path. Home to the National Library of Wales and Aberystwyth Arts Centre (the largest arts centre in Wales), as well as a traditional cinema, a castle and museum. Aberystwyth is also home to the longest cliff railway in Britain and the only one of its kind in Wales.

Amongst the recommended restaurants are Glengower, Baravin, Gwesty Cymru, Byrgyr and SY23 with it's Michelin star - all located on the Aberystwyth seafront. For Sunday lunch, Marine is highly recommended whilst Tynllidiart Arms and Maes Bangor in Capel Bangor (6 miles) and Y Ffarmers in Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn (7 miles) and Halfway Inn in Pisgah (7.4) are also well worth the journey. Plenty of good pubs, including the Glengower (dog friendly) and Ship & Castle for local ales.

Aberystwyth offers direct access to the Cambrian Mountains and Rheidol Valley. The Vale of Rheidol Railway offers a very popular day trip up to Devil's Bridge (seasonal timetable), an area steeped in myths and legends. When you arrive in Devil’s Bridge (Pont-ar-fynach in Welsh), follow the riverside walk to see the three bridges built on top of each other and a magnificent waterfall. Treat yourself to a meal at Hafod Arms before catching the train back to Aberystwyth.

For activities, Colossal Activities can provide anything from golf to mountain bike hire to fishing, children’s parties and kayak hire. You can also enjoy excursions into the Cambrian Mountains for views, local history and wildlife with Cambrian Safaris. Other attractions include The Magic of Life Butterfly House, the remains of a Welsh Cistercian abbey at Ystrad Fflur (Strata Florida Abbey) and the Animalarium in Borth.
