Tourism in Wales received a massive boost with news of the A470 North to South Wales road improvement. Government ministers have announced the dualling of the road along most of the route and includes two new spectucular under ground tunnel sections under the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia National Parks. The new road will be completed by early 2016 and is the largest infrastructure development ever seen in the UK

The Second minister for Wales added “ This new scheme will provide maximum transport and infrastructure benefits whilst minimising the enviromental damage. This can put Wales firmly on the map and the tourism benefits of improving the transport infrastructure can be a huge boost for the Welsh economy”.

Dave Walsh from Ebrill Construction Ltd spoke of his delight in being named as the drilling contractors, “ Taking this route underground is the perfect alternative to the environmental concers. This revolutionary technique will be the future of major road developents around the world”.

Gareth Ap Rilffwl from Best of Wales Holiday Cottages was also keen to back the project. “ The increase in terms of visitor numbers to Wales will be fantastic. These underground sections are key as they will ensure we don’t damage the natural beauty and at the same time improve journey times, access within Wales and also key links to the UK motorway network .
