Description

Ochr y Rhiw is a picturesque stone-built cottage in an elevated position, overlooking a river and woodland to the hills behind. This stylish cottage beautifully combines the contemporary with original features such as stone inglenook fireplaces and exposed beams. With bi-fold doors extending the width of the kitchen space, the elevated terrace feels like a natural extension that brings the outside in. You could easily spend all day here, admiring the tranquil views and the multitude of birds, attracted to what has to be one of the most popular feeding stand in Mid Wales.

Nestled in a private setting within the village of Cwmllinau, central to the market towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau, as well as Snowdonia National Park and Cardigan Bay. Whether you're looking for a homely retreat where you can relax in style, or a base from which to explore this beautiful area with your family, friends or pets, Ochr y Rhiw is highly recommended. 1.2 mile to a village shop / cafe and pub, a great choice of restaurants and plenty of attractions nearby. These include the Old Parliament House and the Centre for Alternative Technology, Ynys-Hir Nature Reserve, King Arthur's Labyrinth and Corris Craft Centre, not to mention a myriad of scenic walks and cycle trails.

Well equipped, farmhouse-style kitchen with an integrated fridge freezer and dishwasher, a microwave and Range cooker within the original inglenook. Oak dining table with 6 chairs. • Living Room: Also with underfloor heating, the spacious living room offers a welcoming retreat with a wood burning stove in the exposed stone fireplace. Two sumptuous, three seater sofas for those cosy nights in, along with a coffee table, antique Welsh dresser and footstool. There is a Smart TV and lots of games to provide entertainment.

Reviews

The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything anyone could need. The underfloor heating was appreciated as it was chilly in the mornings. It was in a lovely location, very peaceful and just right for us to visit relatives in Machynlleth, oh and the dog had a great time. Overall we had a lovely time and the weather was good to us.

Mrs R,

A really enjoyable stay, thank you. Lovely property, well maintained, and lots of lovely walks from the doorstep.

Helen W,

Ochr Y Rhiw is an absolute delight. The underfloor heating meant that we were toasty and warm during our January visit. We thoroughly enjoyed just sitting in the kitchen watching the birds on the feeders (we brought our own seeds, nuts and mealworms) and were delighted to see blue tit, great tit, robin, blackbird, chaffinch, nuthatch, coal tit and a squirrel! A short stroll from the property you can see some lovely streams and waterfalls and it's just a 15 minute drive into Machynlleth. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to visiting again some time.

Miss T,

We loved our stay at Ochr Y Rhiw! It’s a cosy cottage tucked away down a driveway with a beautiful view, lots of birds and a river in the grounds. The house is stocked with everything you would need and more, plus all of good quality making it feel like a home from home. There are places to visit, but we were equally happy to stay in and enjoy the house.

Mrs S,

Beautiful home with everything you need. Very clean, and excellent quality. The patio/decking area was beautiful and the surrounding area is just stunning! Very comfortable lounge area and every kitchen utensil you could possibly need. The sound of the water in the stream was wonderful to fall asleep to. Would recommend to anyone wanting to escape the treadmill of life.

Mrs B,

Beautiful cottage tucked away in a peaceful valley...we had a very happy week!

Miss B,

Had a wonderful stay at Ochr y Rhiw. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. Cottage and surroundings were beautiful.

Mr D,

Ochr y Rhiw is an outstanding property, combining great period features with excellent modern amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. The cottage location was delightful, set in a beautiful valley, yet highly accessible. The terrace was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine after a day's exploring, listening to the birdsong and the murmuring brook at the end of the garden.

Mr B,

A wonderful weekend in a truly beautiful cottage. The Beagles were very relaxed there and so were we knowing they couldn’t escape! We wouldn’t hesitate to return and recommend.
