A few months ago we offered our Facebook fans a change to win a 2 night stay in one of our Llyn Peninsula properties Gwel y Garn. The lucky winner was Keith Morris from Cardiff and last weekend he headed to North Wales with his wife and friends for a nice weekend break. Following their stay Keith has kindly sent us a quick review and we think you’ll agree it sounds like they had a great time.

‘Just returned from Gwel y Garn on the Llyn Peninsula – a truly magical place!

GWEL Y GARNIt’s nearly 50 years since my first visit to Llyn and our party had a really lovely time. Nia gave us a warm welcome, and her bouquets, Welsh cakes and excellent advice (with map) were very much appreciated. We were all very impressed by the standard of the accommodation: spacious rooms, comfortable beds and a TV to watch the World Cup, together with 2 splendid bathrooms (vital with 2 ladies in the party!)

GWEL Y GARNThe cottage proved to be a first class base for exploring the villages and pubs of western LLyn: Abersoch, Aberdaron and Nefyn are all worth visiting, the highlight being the view across the Sound to Bardsey. Excellent meals were had at the Ship in Llanbedrog and the Three Cliffs Hotel in Morfa Nefyn.

GWEL Y GARNMy most memorable experiences were early morning walks around the remains of the Iron Age hill fort at Glanfadryn, only a mile from the cottage. Breath-taking views across the peninsula to Porth Neigwl and Caernarfon Bay, the songs of birds and the bleat of sheep were truly magical.
