Having already celebrated St Dwynwen’s Day and with Valentines on the way, there really is no denying that this is a romantic time of year in Wales. However, it’s not just couples who will be feeling at home in Wales over the next few weeks.

Wales celebrating the Grand Slam in 2012

If you’re a fan of sports, culture and food or just fancy a taste of spring in the Welsh countryside, we certainly have plenty to keep you entertained. Wales kick off the 6 Nations Rugby Championship against Ireland in Cardiff on the 2nd of February, with plenty of rugby to follow until the middle of March. It won’t matter where you’re on holiday in Wales, you’ll be able to join in with the local fun and ‘hwyl’ because the 6 nations fever extends to every corner of the country.

Crempog – the Welsh pancake

Two days before Valentines, it’s also Shrove Tuesday (Dydd Mawrth Ynyd in Welsh) on the 12th of February. Try out a Welsh crempog recipe – this is a great way to recover after a long day of walking in the fresh Welsh countryside.

2013 is also the year that marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of writer Dylan Thomas. A series of commemorative events will be held throughout the country during the year to celebrate his life, work and legacy so keep your eyes open for an event that will appeal to you.

Lambing Time in Wales

If life on a farm has always intrigued you, then there’s no better time to experience farm holidays than in spring. The lambing season is already in full swing in parts of Wales, whilst farmers on higher grounds are now preparing for the busy time ahead. You can choose from a range of luxury holiday cottages that offer farm holidays and no matter where you decide to go, you can be assured that an extra pair of helping hands is always appreciated!
