Description

Sgubor Madrun holiday cottage is where the straw and feed were stored for the past 250 years. It has recently been restored to a 5 star holiday accommodation with as much of the original features left visible as possible. The cottage has a children’s play area, a games room and Porth Neigwl's 3 mile long sandy beach is just over 1/2 a mile away.

Ground Floor

The front access and rear to this cottage is level and suitable for the less mobile including wheel chair. It opens directly into a spacious open plan lounge / dining / kitchen area. Part of the original slate flagstone floor has been re-laid in the kitchen / dining area and some walls have been retained as exposed stone, all adding to the warmth and character of the accommodation. Its large front opening is now fully glazed and gives wonderful views of the countryside and a spacious airy atmosphere to the cottage. The ground floor has the benefit of under floor heating.

The kitchen is fully equipped with high quality appliances and a comprehensive range of cutlery and glasses. The five star quality is continued in the lounge area. Large comfortable leather sofas and soft cushions all add to the home from home ambience. There is a new plasma TV wall mounted, DVD, CD/radio.

Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom suitable for a wheelchair user. It has an adjacent en-suite bathroom with a shower and handrails near the WC and wash hand basin. A choice of a shower chair on wheels or swivel can be provided for the less mobile as well as a 2 inch toilet seat raiser. Non slip flooring.

Upstairs

A beautiful staircase, crafted by a local carpenter, leads up to a gallery style first floor area with two bedrooms that has a pitched ceiling and two velux windows that afford a wonderful view of the countryside. One bedroom has an antique double bed with canopy and en-suite, the second bedroom with three single cream iron bedsteads. The main bathroom is also on this floor with a jaquzzi bath.

Garden

A large double back door leads out onto a patio area with garden furniture and barbecue. Ideal for admiring the views or to simply sit and relax with a glass of wine in the evening.

“Fantastic set up”

We spent a great week at this splendid cottage last month. We were definitely spoilt by this spotless and spacious homely cottage. A relaxing week spent with many walks on the beautiful beaches. This is our first stay but most definitely not our last! Lovely hosts, children thoroughly enjoyed the ponies and the friendly dogs.
