Reviews

A very comfortable stay in lovely surroundings.
Views of Cadair Idris were amazing and Zip world was the main reason for our visit. The George at Penmaenpool was lovely for a lunch in the sun, sitting next to the Estuary. The Old Precipice & New Precipice walks were great for viewsIsobel from the Isle of Man - 10th August 2017
Lovely property in quiet countryside but only two miles from Dolgellau. Local people very friendly. Hired bikes from Dolgellau and cycled the trail to Barmouth. Lovely scenery. Visit Portmeirion too it's fascinating and also lovely walks. Welsh Highland Railway well worth the trip.Sue from Dorset - 3rd July 2017
Lovely cottage, fantastic scenery, big garden. Plenty of parking. All round a wonderful centrally located cottage.
Recommends: Mawddach Trail is a fantastic walk, easy accessible for prams, wheelchairs etc. Start from Dolgellau, if feeling energetic you can walk to Barmouth.Angie from Portsmouth - 18th June 2017
Very relaxing and very welcoming by the owner. Had everything we needed - superb views/location. Coed y Brenin mountain bike centre is wonderful.Peter from Sheffield - 2nd April 2017
Excellent property in good location. Helpful owner nearby but not required due to high standard of accommodation.
Tips: Climb Cadair Idris. Walk Mawddach Trail for great scenery and bird watching. Sunday lunch at Royal Ship hotel in Dolgellau - good standard and excellent value.Couple from Cheshire - 5th March 2017

Local Area

This detached Dolgellau cottage stands in a peaceful location and enjoys beautiful views towards the Cadair Idris range. Located on private grounds above the village of Llanelltyd in Snowdonia, it is only 2 miles from the centre of Dolgellau with its range of amenities.

The pretty market town of Dolgellau has over 200 listed buildings – more than any other town in Wales. It also offers supermarkets, plenty of interesting shops, great cafes, pubs and restaurants. Visit T.H.Roberts, Parliament House for amazing cakes and free wifi and eat out at Meirionydd and Dylanwad Da. Unicorn is a lovely setting for a quiet drink whilst other restaurants outside the town such as Bwyty Mawddach and George III at Penmaenpool are also highly recommended.

Amongst the main attractions you have mountain and coastal walks, sandy beaches at Barmouth and Fairbourne, the world renowned Coed Y Brenin Mountain Biking Centre and the Go Ape High Wire course. You also have the Mawddach Trail (a 9 mile riverside trail from Dolgellau to Barmouth – perfect for walking or cycling), the National White Water Rafting Centre near Bala, Harlech Castle’s World Heritage site and Talyllyn narrow gauge railway.

Other days out include the Centre for Alternative Technology, Corris Slate Caverns, King Arthur's Labyrinth (great for families) and Corris Craft Centre. And if that’s not enough, what about something totally different and unique such as the world’s largest underground trampoline at Blaenau Ffestiniog or the longest zip wire ride in Europe at Bethesda.
