South Wales Cottages & Apartments - Country, Coast & City breaks
Holiday cottages in South Wales and Gower offer a wide range of luxury cottages across the breadth of the South Wales area which includes the idyllic and award-winning Gower Peninsula, the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the rural charm of the Vale of Glamorgan, and the undulating hills and dramatic scenery of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. In addition to the beautiful scenery and coastline, South Wales consists of two extremely important cities - our vibrant, world-renowned capital, Cardiff and our bustling, thriving second city, Swansea.
Cardiff has something for everyone with its haunting medieval castle, its National Museum of Wales, the iconic Millennium / Principality Stadium, home to our world-famous rugby team, its fashionable bay, and its vibrant shopping centre. The nearby counties of Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan hold a different appeal for those among us who enjoy a refreshing walk along the Glamorgan Heritage coast - Porthcawl to Aberthaw with its rich, wildlife and scenery is a must for the walkers among us. For the history buffs, we are really spoilt for choice when it comes to castles in the South Wales area. The younger and more adventurous visitors can visit Afan Forest Park’s world-renowned biking centre and visit the showcaves of Dan-yr-Ogof - the largest showcave complex in Northern Europe.
Swansea and its enchanting Gower Coastline is worth more than a fleeting visit. Indeed, it is one of the most magical corners of the UK, offering some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe - Rhosilli Bay, for example, has been voted the best beach in the UK and, in a recent survey, came ninth in the world. There are several Blue Flag beaches and others, like Llangennith, which are popular with surfers. Swansea itself, is a vibrant, university city with its pretty marina, bustling city centre, and exciting night-life. It is also the birthplace of one of our most famous literary heroes, Dylan Thomas. Visit the Dylan Thomas Centre to find out more about this giant among writers.
South Wales is simply unmissable and Best of Wales will ensure that, wherever you choose to stay as a base for your holiday, you will always be within easy reach of beautiful countryside, unspoilt coastline and enduring heritage.
